This shoot was extra special for us! We have been dreaming of this equestrian engagement session since the first day we met Lauren almost a year ago! She and Tony were not engaged yet, but Lauren is a personal trainer at our gym and she started training us last year, you know, so we could be strong enough to do triple header wedding weekends without injuring ourselves!! After just a week or two (and while we were still sore beyond belief) Lauren told us she loved our work so much had already picked us as her wedding photographers, and they weren’t even planning the wedding yet! What an honor! We were beyond thrilled and couldn’t wait to get to know them more as a couple!
We didn’t meet Tony for the first few months, but we heard about him during every training session, and before we even met him we had already fallen in love with him! We loved listening to Lauren talk about him and the way she described their relationship made us realize they are an awesome couple and we knew they would be dream clients! When we did finally meet Tony he was everything we had hoped for and more! And goodness they are cute together!
Over the next year, we watched them fall deeper in love, and started dreaming of their engagement session! We also got our butts kicked every workout, and we chatted more and more about engagement sessions and wedding photography while she worked our muscles to exhaustion!
Every training session Lauren would greet us with a huge smile, and we started to look at Lauren’s hand to see if she was wearing a ring! We were holding our breath with excitement waiting for them to get engaged, because we knew they were perfect for each other and they are so beautiful we couldn’t wait to get them in front of our cameras!! When Tony asked her to marry him at sunset on Santa Claus Lane beach it was gorgeous and dreamy, and it was time to officially start planning, so we were thrilled!
Tony and Lauren are an incredible couple. They have the love you see in movies. They light up every room they walk into, and they are the life of the party! They are so fun and can make you laugh till you cry, but they also have a beautiful and romantic melt your heart kind of love. The way Lauren loves and cares for Tony is incredible, and the way Tony looks at Lauren is magic!
When the day came for the engagement session we could hardly contain our excitement. When we arrived at the stables and met Lauren’s horse, Kount we were in love! He is such a gorgeous horse and has SO much personality! At one point he nuzzled up against Tony and pretended to bite him! And halfway through the shoot he took off running, just to be silly! Kount’s personality kept us smiling ear to ear and we were so excited to work with such a gorgeous horse and we found the prettiest light right next to the stables! And clearly Kount liked the area too because he was a total ham and made us laugh non stop! After so many wonderful photos we let Kount relax and headed to location number two. When we arrived at the second location Lauren said when she pictured her engagement session she pictured a location like this one: open field, oak trees, and golden light. When we heard those words we were SO excited and knew it was going to be a dream come true! They had perfect outfits, and we are completely obsessed with her flowy blush tulle skirt and white crop top (both from Forever 21)! They love Tony and Lauren have for each other is playful and fun, and we laughed so hard during the shoot our cheeks kept cramping up from smiling! They walked, danced, flirted, laughed, and held each other close as the sun set over the mountains, and it truly felt like a fairytale!
We are beyond excited for their wedding in Santa Ynez next May at Firestone with Jill & Co and we are thrilled to share their engagement session with you!
Jess even had to lay in a patch of burs and fox tails to get the perfect silhouette, but it was totally worth it!
