Santa Barbara Courthouse and Riviera Mansion Wedding: Rich & Emily

Filed in: Uncategorized

Rich and Emily met through work in 2014 and a couple of cocktails and two years later, they started dating! There were so many things that initially connected these two! They share a love of similar music and stand up comedy, which make for adorable references between the two of them, and endless inside jokes. Now, these two live together in Arlington with their beloved beagle mix, Dora.

Conveniently enough, Rich proposed in their tiny apartment kitchen on the night of February 13. Emily was wearing sweatpants and chopping onions and was a bit confused about the timing, until Rich said it was planned so she could wake up an engaged woman on Valentine’s Day (Awww, how adorable is that?!)

We first met them in person when we did their engagement session in Washington DC last winter. We immediately fell in love with their adorable dog Dora, and since we knew Dora would not be coming to the wedding, we took photos of them all together right outside their home in Arlington, VA which was so much fun! We absolutely love destination engagement sessions, and we love when our couples being their dog along for a few of the photos too! We had a blast and we started counting down the days until their wedding!

Fast forward to this summer, and their wedding day was finally here! The girls got ready at the Riviera mansion, and we love the beautiful victorian inspired furniture at this venue! The second we saw Emily’s first dress we were SO excited… and then we found out she had a second dress for the reception! YES please! As you can see, her first dress photographed like a dream and the buttons that went all the way down the dress had us swooning.

The first look took place on the side of the beautiful Santa Barbara Courthouse, and it was a dream to watch these two together. They rented the sunken garden directly in front of the courthouse for their ceremony, and it all came together so so beautifully! They exchanged personal vows, and we love what she said: “You’re unbelievably patient and kind. You love me unconditionally even when I’m at my worst. You make me laugh every single day and most importantly you laugh at my bad jokes. Rich, you’re the most generous person I’ve ever met, and every day you remind me that not only is there good in the world, but there is good in me.” Gah! They’re the cutest!

After the ceremony, guests walked over to the Riviera Mansion for cocktail hour and lawn games. Since they did a first look, they quickly joined their cocktail hour and began mixing and mingling with guests! They had their reception on the patio on the side of the Riveria Mansion and it looked amazing! KB Events did a fabulous job putting everything together, and we loved getting to see the reception on this side of the property. Their family and friends gave beautiful speeches that proved that Rich and Emily truly make each other better people, and they even touched on how likable they are as a couple. As Emily’s dad said, “what’s not to like about Rich?” it was clear that right after her dad met him he liked him and welcomed him into the family. Everyone agrees they bring out the best in each other, and it was amazing to see the way their family and friends love to support and celebrate them!

After the reception started, she changed into a beautiful Jenny Yoo dress right before dancing! Her first dress was perfect for the ceremony and portraits but she wanted to DANCE and they had a live band, so she knew she needed a different dress in order to dance the night away.

They had a beautiful first dance and then Emily wowed us all when she and her dad did a choreographed dance, with lots of twirls and spends and an epic dip. It makes sense why she wanted a dancing dress!

We always love when our couples choose to hire a live band, because we know it’s going to be a dance party. Their band, The Replicas Music, did such a fabulous job wrapping up such a beautiful day by keeping the dance floor packed all night!
