We started the first leg of our European adventure with a classic east coast wedding! They got married inside an all white church, rode on a red trolley through the adorable coastal town of Kennebunkport, and sailed into their reception on a boat!
This wedding is special to us because Dave & Bridget found us through a magazine publication of one of our all-time favorite and classy weddings Cody & Amy, (if you haven’t seen their wedding yet, you have to check it out) and this bride initially contacted us to ask about Amy’s wedding dress and bridesmaid dress designer and then we got to talking and before we knew it we were on a flight to the east coast to do their engagement session in Boston and start planning for their wedding in Maine the next summer! They say “when you know, you know” and the second we started talking to this incredible couple, we knew! Last summer when we did their engagement session on what we would consider to be the cutest street in Boston, Acorn street! Have you ever been to Acorn Street in Boston, if not you have to check it out! We had such a wonderful time and started dreaming of their Kennebunkport wedding the following summer! We were already counting down the days till we got to see Dave & Bridget again because we already had such wonderful memories of our time with them!
One year later we flew into Boston and drove up the coast to Kennebunkport, and we quickly fell in love with the colored houses, wooden sidewalks, and incredibly kind people. If you’re looking for a quaint east coast coastal town, you have to visit Kennebunkport! The day started at the Nonantum Resort and it rained the day before and after, but on Saturday it was perfectly clean blue skies all day! The bridesmaids got ready in the bridal suite of the Nonantum Resort in Kennebunkport, and then we all got on an adorable red trolley to drive to the ceremony in Ogunquit inside an all white church! We arrived just in time for the ceremony, and there wasn’t a dry eye in the church as they watched the incredibly emotional moment of the bride’s father giving her away. The ceremony was filled with celebration and a wonderful kiss and then the entire bridal party got into the trolley and started celebrating with Babe rose (White Girl Rose by Fat Jewish in a can) as we headed to the lighthouse at Ogunquit beach for bridal portraits, and then back on the trolley to the resort. One of our favorite things about this wedding was the personalized details! We loved their classy invitations, bridesmaid dresses and bouquets, groomsmen’s blue suits, and the bride’s Jim Hjelm dress is one of our all-time favorite wedding gowns! And some our favorite fun details was the custom beer-coozzis, and sunglasses for every guest. This couple truly knows how to throw a party! Once we arrived back at the Nonantum Resort the bride and groom rode into their cocktail hour ON A BOAT! And while we were there George Bush Senior rode by on his boat too, obviously to wish them congratulations! They laughed, and twirled un golden light as the sun went down, and danced into their reception of all white linens and chivarti chairs, with a pop of color in the florals. They had a beautiful first dance, delicious food and cocktails, hundreds of doughnut holes and late night snacks, and the live band who immediately got everyone on the dance floor and we danced till the very last minute! It truly was a perfect celebration and we are absolutely thrilled to share it with you!
