Birnam Wood Country Club Wedding: Brian & Megan

Filed in: Weddings

Brian and Megan have the kind of love that books are written about! Just listen to how they met! Brian was a groomsman and Megan was a bridesmaid in their best friend’s wedding. Prior to the wedding, Brian asked the couple if there were going to be any single girls there and they said, “well Megan is super cute and recently single.” Then they crossed their fingers and hoped for the best. During the rehearsal dinner, Megan and Brian saw each other and she walked up to him and offered to give him a tour of the house. It was her family’s beach house, so she knew it well. Brian happily agreed and that’s how their friendship began. On the wedding day, they flirted all day and at one point he bought her and her sister shots of fireball, which her sister said totally won her over! Brian and Megan ended up on the dance floor and they never stopped dancing with each other. They danced all night, and continued hanging out and talking at the after party at The Palms. From then on, Brian knew he had found an incredible woman and continued to pursue her until they were official! Isn’t that awesome?! It’s every bride and grooms’ dream to have members of their bridal party meet and fall in love!

On their wedding day, Megan and the wedding party got ready at her family’s beach house in Carp overlooking the beach. It was the same beach house where they first met. So cute!! It was a beautiful morning and the guys and girls were ahead of schedule, which is a great way to start the day! We did some fun getting ready photos of bridesmaids and then Megan got dressed and ready for the first look. The first look took place on the patio with the ocean behind them. Such a gorgeous spot! After the first look, we all got on a bus because they had 11 bridesmaids and 11 groomsmen, so they needed an actual bus to transport people!

The ceremony was absolutely stunning and so special. The Priest who performed the ceremony also married Megan’s parents 29 years ago! During the ceremony he said, “Marriage is not about what you can get from each other. It’s about what you can accomplish together.” We LOVED this!! He also talked about the importance of valuing your spouse as a wonderful gift from God. He challenged Brian to be grateful always for Megan as his wife. One scripture he pointed out was, “Be kind. Show compassion.” Then he said, “Could you imagine if people actually did that in today’s world?” Overall, we are just so thankful for both their family and their life of faith. They are such great examples and the ceremony reflected that perfectly! The priest then thanked Brian’s family for the man they raised and how great he turned out.

After the beautiful ceremony we headed to Birnam Wood Golf Club for the reception. The guests enjoyed cocktail hour while overlooking the green, with the occasional golfers going by. At receptions, speeches are on of our very favorite parts, and this wedding was no different. In Megan’s dad’s speech, he thanked Brian for the wonderful man that he is and talked about how excited is for many more parties with their entire new family (Brian’s parents, etc.). He acknowledged the members of their families that were deceased and talked about how proud they would be of this union. Then he went on to say, “As a father, you worry, wonder, and pray for who you daughter will marry. You hope that they will find somebody that is smart, kind, compassionate, and hard working. Megan, you found that guy. Brian, you are a true blessing.” Ahhh, we absolutely melted!!!! Are there any better words you can hope to hear from your father-in-law?!

As the night went on, they had a beautiful first dance, we enjoyed a delicious meal, and DJ Zeke kept the dance floor packed all night long! At the end of the night they did a sparkler exit, which was incredible! They ran through twice and then he dipped her and kissed her in the middle. It was a perfect end to a perfect day!
