Prado Balboa Park Wedding: Greg & Emily

Filed in: Weddings

You know that feeling when you are so excited for something and you have butterflies in your stomach? That is how we felt leading up to this wedding! We were so excited for Greg & Emily get married, and we were thrilled to photograph their wedding at the Prado Balboa Park in San Diego. The Prado is in the middle of Balboa which is a beautiful location! If you ever find youself in San Diego, it’s definitely worth exploring for the day!

The girls got ready at US Grant, a classy hotel in the Gaslamp Quarter. There was marble everywhere, and combined with the gorgeous bridesmaids, it was a dream to photograph! Greg and his guys got ready at Greg’s grandmothers house. The guys all took a photo by the bar which extra special because it is the same spot where everyone who got ready for their wedding took a photo! There is a wall of 6-7photos dating back to the 70’s! Such a fun way to start the day!

We get to work with a lot of great couples, and Greg & Emily are amazing through and through. They have such a sweet love for each other, and they were both so excited to see each other for the first look! On top of that, their bridal party was one of THEE BEST we’ve ever worked with!!  They looked incredible, had us laughing all day, and made an already good day even better!

We love Balboa because of the historical aspect and the beautiful architecture. There are so many great options for photos throughout the day. We did their first look under the arches, and as she walked up to him we all felt the excitement. Greg’s reaction was priceless, and the best part is he still cried when she walked down the aisle two hours later! We love the first look because it is the perfect time to take a deep breath together, and calm your nerves by being with your  “person” before all of the craziness. Doing a first look also allows the bride and groom to have more portraits on the wedding day and it allows them to spend WAY more time with their guests! Greg and Emily got to go to their own cocktail hour, and enjoy that time with their guests. The guests are there to celebrate the bride and groom, so the more time they get to spend with guests, the better of a celebration it’s going to be! We are so glad Greg and Emily had an incredible timeline (thanks to Modern Charm Events) that allowed them to have a relaxing morning, beautiful portraits in the afternoon, and a full evening of dancing and celebrating with their guests!

We both cried a little during their heartfelt speeches, especially the ones where they thanked their parents! We were humbled by their grateful hearts, and inspired by their dance moves! They had an incredible live band, The Lucky Devils, and as soon as they started playing the dance floor was packed! Live bands are always a great way to get the party started! We had such a wonderful time photographing their day and we are some excited to share our favorites with you!
