Our Top 5 Favorite Flying Hacks

Our Top 5 Favorite Flying Hacks

As you may already know, we travel quite a bit as photographers and educators. We absolutely love flying and over the years we’ve learned a few ways to make air travel even better.  So today we are sharing Our Top 5 Favorite Flying Hacks!

  • 1. Sign up for TSA Pre-check.  We all know the biggest hassle at the airport is security. If we are being honest, we really do love that they keep security pretty tight! However, being able to get through it efficiently is such a perk. That is what TSA pre-check can do. It pays for itself in time and efforts. You can find the application here: https://www.tsa.gov/precheck

  • 2. Bring a headphone splitter. We love listening to music on planes or even watching a few episodes of Friends 😉 With this lovely little device we can both plug in our own headphones and enjoy it together. They even make ones with 5 ports!

  • 3. Bring an empty water bottle. We love our Hydro Flasks and basically bring them wherever we go, especially when we travel. Make sure it’s empty so you can get through security and fill up once you’re in.

  • 4. The lounges are worth it! Several airports, especially the larger international ones, have lofts and lounges you can purchase entry to beforehand or day of (and not just for first class flyers). From our personal experience, they are always worth it. Whether we get to the airport early or have a delayed flight, it is so refreshing to be in a quiet lounge with wifi, outlets, and lets be real…the beer and wine don’t hurt either 😉

  • 5. This last is one of our favorite tips we actually learned from one of our couples! It requires a little adventurous spirit. Whenever we are booking a flight for just the two of us, and the exit rows are not available, we book our seats in near the back, but here’s the catch, we book the window seat and aisle seat. If the flight doesn’t end up completely full, there is a pretty good chance no one will book the middle seat, so we end up with an extra seat and the whole row to ourselves! And if somebody does book the middle seat we simply offer them the window or aisle so we can still sit next to each other.

These are just a handful of our favorite flying hacks! We hope you can use these to make your adventures even better!

What are some of your favorite tips and hacks for traveling?
