Oh how we love springtime weddings!
Eddie and Maggie moved to Santa Barbara in 2007 to attend UCSB and just as they were getting acquainted to the college lifestyle their paths crossed. It was only two weeks into school, and Eddie walked into her room with a friend. Maggie knew something was different about Eddie from the second she met him and it’s almost as if she knew once we walked into her life he would never walk out. We love what she said about the night she met him “Eddie peaked my interest that night, it’s like my soul already knew how important Eddie would be!”
They started dating shortly after and they became the best of friends and adventure buddies and enjoyed every part of walking through life together! They had this one place in Isla Vista they called their “spot” because they would always go there together and talk about life, dreams and spend quality time together. They dated all through UCSB and then moved to the bay area after graduation. They knew they would get married, but Maggie didn’t know when Eddie was going to propose. They planned a trip to France and Italy for their 25th birthday, and the first leg of the trip involved a few day stay in Santa Barbara before they flew to Europe. It was a beautiful sunny day in May and they rode bikes and walked along the beach and then Eddie surprised her with a stay at the Bacara Resort and dinner at Bouchon! (Bouchon is a lovely French restaurant in downtown Santa Barbara and it’s actually where we had our very first date 4 years ago). After a fantastic evening Eddie took Maggie back to their spot and they laid under the stars and talked about their dreams just like they did during their time in college. After a little while Eddie got up and took her hand and got down on one knee and asked her to marry him!! Maggie was so surprised she had to ask him to say it again! She said yes and they flew to France and Italy and began to celebrate their engagement! Oh what a perfect way to start a European adventure!! Then when they returned they started planning their classy Santa Barbara wedding for the following April.
Their wedding was a dream to photograph!! We always love photographing weddings where the couple creates a wedding day based on who they are as a couple and what they value most! They had the classiest of details, a beautiful ceremony, and a perfect night of celebration with family and friends. When Jess arrived to the girls getting ready room, she saw Maggie’s details and flowers and she was so excited she almost screamed! It felt like Christmas! It was a Jimmy Choo box with gorgeous Tiffany’s jewelry, yellow diamonds, Jimmy Choo perfume and heels, the cutest invites, and an all white bouquet with peonies!!! Oh how we both love peonies and this was the first time we saw them this season so we were in heaven! Then James arrived where the guys were getting ready and Eddie had a timeless JCrew suit and perfect Jcrew details (just wait till you see the polka dot bowtie), and his boutonniere was a gorgeous unopened peony bud. Their details were classy and timeless, and more importantly they way they love each other is stunning. Maggie was one of the most calm brides we’ve ever experienced, she is level headed and so kind and above all else, she cared most about the celebration with her friends and family as she married her best friend! Eddie felt the same, and he is so good at caring for those around him. He sees and knows Maggie so well and couldn’t take his eyes off her all day (and we don’t blame him because she is such a babe!). They had a beautiful ceremony at Our Lady of Sorrows and then we headed over to the Santa Barbara Court House for a few portraits, and then to their reception at Rockwood: The Santa Barbara Women’s Club. It was a flawless day filled with joy and celebration! We had a fantastic time capturing this classy and timeless wedding and we are absolutely thrilled to share it with you today!
