Have you ever been to Chicago in the fall? It’s gorgeous! Stormy clouds, golden leaves falling, and a blustery wind blowing through the city. This Chicago engagement session was one of our favorites! This couple led us to some of the most incredible places along the waterfront, and our city loving hearts were thrilled. Tyler and Lauren are a sweet couple with an adorable dog named Tux (how fun is that for a dog name!) When we arrived at their place it stared to rain and we sat by the fireplace and sipped wine as they told us how they met and how they fell in love. When the rain let up we walked around the streets by their home for a few photos with Tux, and then headed over to the edge of Lake Michigan. We had no idea how beautiful Chicago shores would be during this time of year. And the skyline is breathtaking! We walked through Lincoln Park and across the freeway to the shore and the water was the prettiest shade of turquoise! We are so used to seeing salt water shores, and we had no idea the the fresh water of Lake Michigan was such a beautiful color! They walked out through the sand onto a dock and we were in creative heaven! We were obsessing over the way Lauren’s Jenny Yoo dress flowed in the wind, it felt like we were dreaming! Then it started raining again and they weren’t even phased by the rain, we kept shooting and the dock reflected the light perfectly as the waves crashed over it. We had to keep dodging the waves as they crashed over the edge of the dock, but we made it out unscathed and with some of our favorite engagement images ever! Then we walked over to another gorgeous view of the skyline and as Jess was taking photos along the water’s edge she backed up too far and….almost knocked a bicyclist into the water! It was a very close call, and we’re so glad it ended well and no one fell in! The session finished with drinks at the J Parker on top of the Lincoln Hotel as we watched the sun set over the city. We are so thankful for incredible couples like Tyler and Lauren and their adventurous spirits! And we can’t wait for their wedding in Santa Barbara with Amazing Days Events at the SB Historical Museum!
