We are absolutely thrilled to share this New York City Engagement Session! We received an incredible email from Devon (and Beka’s best friend Julie) in January, asking if we were available to photograph their wedding on the east coast. Sadly we were already booked, but we mentioned how we would love to do an engagement session in New York City! This got Devon thinking, and he came up with an amazing idea!! He planned to completely surprise Beka by booking a NYC engagement session for March and wait to tell her on Valentines Day. So we made it official and prepared to keep it a secret. We love romance, and we are suckers for surprise gifts and experiences, so were thrilled to be a part of this incredible surprise! Devon was so excited and he had to tell her something, so he told Beka he had an unbelievable surprise for her but she had to wait another two weeks! She even asked if it was James & Jess and he denied it, so sneaky! You see, we had never met Beka, but Jess went to school with Beka’s best friend Julie. Ever since Beka saw Jess’ work she knew if she was ever lucky enough to find the man of her dreams Jess would have to photograph them at some point! Devon knew this very well, and this surprise meant even more because it was something Beka had dreamed for for 8 years! Wow! When Valentines Day came, Devon told Beka and she couldn’t believe it! She read over the emails in complete amazement that her fiancee had planned such an incredible surprise! Devon, we are still in awe of your thoughtfulness and surprise skills! Well done!!
On the day of the shoot we were smiling ear to ear with excitement! When they arrived in the city we grabbed a quick drink at The Loeb Boathouse Central Park and then walked over to one of our favorite spots in Central Park, The Bethesda Terrace! They both looked fabulous, and Beka was extra excited because Devon rarely dresses up because works in construction, but he went all out for this shoot and almost took her breath away! Doesn’t he look handsome? And Beka looked stunning and made the 40 degree weather look like a summer day!! We had an absolute blast photographing them as they walked, kissed, danced, and flirted like no one was around! When they look at each other it seems like everything else fades away! Then we walked around Central Park for a few iconic backdrops for the photos, and finished right outside the park with a a few incredible motion blur taxi photos! (Don’t worry we didn’t stop traffic, they were in the crosswalk). It was one of our all-time favorite New York City engagement sessions and we are SO excited to share it with you! Cheers!
