San Francisco Engagement: Aleks & Natalie

Filed in: Engagements

We don’t remember the last time we were THIS excited to post an engagement session! As you know, we love to travel and we love photographing weddings and engagements in new places and spaces! Even though we have both been to San Francisco many times, it feels new and exciting every time! We get so inspired by seeing more of the world together, and we absolutely love big cities! So when we started to plan Aleks and Natalie’s engagement session and they mentioned that they first met while living in the city of San Francisco…we all knew the engagement session had to be in the bay!

They fell in love in San Francisco so it has so much significance to their relationship! When we were planning the shoot we decided to start where they had their first date! It’s a bar in Union Square called Sam’s Cable Car Lounge, and Aleks first took her there so he could watch a game and take her on a date at the same time. Buuuuuut he ended up paying way more attention to her than the game! I mean, you can’t blame him, she is gorgeous!

We met for drinks at the lounge, which happened to be two doors down from where we stayed the last time we were in the city! So fun! After happy hour we headed out to find a perfect cable car! First of all, finding an empty (or at least somewhat empty) cable car is no small task, especially on Friday in the middle of rush hour! Opps! But we were patient and found the perfect opportunity! And the photos of them laughing in the cable car are some of our favorite engagement photos ever! The moments these two share together made our job so easy and so fun!

We took the cable car all the way up to the top of Lombard Street. The most crooked, steep and crazy street in San Francisco! And the best part was, Natalie walked down the street in stilettos and we were stunned! She is such a champion! We had so much fun taking photos on Lombard St, (while dodging cars and tourists) and then we headed over to the Palace of Fine Arts.

Let us just say, the second we arrived we felt like we had stepped into Ancient Rome! The architecture is incredible and feels like you’ve entered a different country! We caught ourselves just looking up at the arches in awe at least a few (hundred) times! After a beautiful twenty minutes of golden light we ran over to the Marina JUST in time for a perfect sunset! We were so worried about the fog taking over, but if peeled back just enough for a gorgeous sunset right behind the Golden Gate Bridge! Such a dream! It was truly an honor to run ALL around the city with these incredible humans, and we are SO excited for their wedding! Here are a few of our favorites from their destination engagement session in San Francisco!
