New Hampshire Wedding: Jason & Michelle

Filed in: Weddings

This amazing couple planned their wedding around the colors of the leaves changing! How cool is that? We’ve been excited for this wedding for a long time! Ever since we met them at Tommy & Veronica’s wedding and heard that they were getting married during peak foliage season in New Hampshire! We gotta admit, we didn’t realize how beautiful the leaves are when they change colors up here! Michelle tried to explain it to us, and while we believed her, we had no idea what was in store. I mean, we’ve seen fall in Boston and New York, but NOTHING compares to the New England countryside.

We flew into Boston and spent a few days in the city. Our dear friend Jeff Kaylor was also in town and we got to see where he grew up and stayed with his mom. Which was such a treat!  And then we also got to spend the afternoon with our friend  Brendan Fereday (he and Jess have known each other for over 20 years) and he is getting his masters at Harvard. He gave us a tour, and we honestly had no idea Harvard is such a beautiful campus! We had never seen it before, and we both stood in wonder of all the beautiful architecture! And Jess wanted to move into the library because of all the gorgeous marble! Maybe we need to do an engagement session there in the future?

After a few days in Boston we drove up to the wedding venue in New Hampshire. The further north we drove the prettier and prettier it became. The trees went form green to yellow, to orange, to red! The brightest colors of trees we had ever experienced! We found ourselves constantly saying “wow, look at those trees” and then turning our heads the other way and saying “wow” all over again! We drove through hours of gorgeous colorful trees! When we arrived at the Mountain View Grand Resort & Spa, we were already so excited because of two things. One, it looks like it is straight out of a Wes Anderson movie, which made us SO happy! And two, the hotel was on a golf course surrounded by those beautiful trees, so James was immediately excited! We settled into our adorable room, opened an amazing gift form the bride and groom! They got us gold salad servers that are from he same set as our CB2 gold flatware! We were blown away by their thoughtful gift! They love to host and know our love of hosting, and we were honored by their gift! Oh and we have already used them 3 times since we’ve been home! Then we explored the resort and Jess found the best adirondack chair and sat on the patio sipping rose, while James played a round of golf. When James finished his golf game, we both sat on the porch together and drank wine (well actually James had beer) and though we had plans of going and getting dinner in town, it was so magical we stayed on the patio, ordered a cheese plate and watched the sun set over the mountains. We love big cities, but it was so nice to rest and unwind in such a beautiful location! We talked about how we felt so relaxed and at peace, and tried to figure out how we are going to get back there for next year’s peak foliage season! It was an amazing evening and a memory we will never forget!

Then we woke up the next morning to find that the trees had changed even more overnight and were even more beautiful than the day before! We didn’t even know it was possible for it to change that fast! We later found out we woke up to “peak foliage” which just happened to be the exact date for the wedding. Clearly this bride knew what she was doing when she picked the date!

The wedding day started with the girls getting ready at the bride’s house in Berlin, with a beautiful view of the mountains and trees! Then we headed over to the church, which is one of the prettiest churches we’ve ever photographed! The second we stepped inside, we felt like we were in Italy! They had a beautiful ceremony, with the cutest ring bearers and flower girls, and then headed back to the resort for the reception. I know it sounds crazy, but it was like the trees had changed all over again and looked even PRETTIER that afternoon than the morning! We were so excited we got to take the bride & groom’s portraits with the trees, and we had so much fun photographing them! Jason is kind and handsome, looked incredible in a tux, and loves Michelle so much. We loved watching him fight back tears as she walked down the aisle. Michelle is an incredible host, full of joy and always making sure everyone is taken care of! It was so fun to see how the guests celebrated them so well, and we still cant get over how absolutely stunning she looked in her dress! She is radiant and took our breath away more than once on the wedding day! The reception was filled with amazing food, Grade A Maple Syrup as guest gifts/place cards (so cute), heartfelt speeches and a full dance floor! We loved everything about photographing their beautiful wedding day, and we are SO excited to share a few of our favorites with you!

Michelle is Veronica’s cousin and since they were at the wedding we HAD to take a photo of them! It’s always fun to see our James & Jess couples at other weddings especially on the opposite coast! They are so cute! (We did Tommy & Veronica’s wedding last year at the El Encanto.)
