Our Lady Mount Carmel Wedding: Pete and Brenna

Filed in: Weddings

A classic story of  “cute boy at work” meets “pretty girl at work” and they quickly fall for each other. Pete and Brenna met while working at the same non-profit, a catholic charity. Brenna referred to Pete as the “cute boy from work” whenever she would talk about him to her family and friends. Later she’d find out that Pete had been referring to her as the “pretty girl at work.” How cute is that?! Little did they know how thankful they would be for that shared job! We love this couple, and we really like what Pete what he wrote about her while they were engaged:

“You’d be shocked how many excuses someone can come up with to talk to the pretty girl at work. Names forgotten for the 5th time, office locations mixed up, coffee breaks getting longer, flimsy excuses to your boss why your work wasn’t done. But she was too beautiful. Our first date was great. She would say the highlight was our discovered mutual love of musicals. I would say it was when she said with pride “I’m getting a steak”……immediate attraction. The second date was incredible. Our third date was the best day of my life. A late breakfast meant to last an hour turned into a full day of laughter, conversation, and discovery. It was when I fell in love with her. In less than 10 days, we would tell each other “I love you”. A couple weeks after that she took the lead and invited me to California to be with her family for Easter. I decided I would marry her shortly after. Patience hasn’t had a strong presence in our relationship.

On the day I’m writing this, I have known Brenna for just about two years. It has been the greatest two years of my life. Our story seems simultaneously just like every fairy tale love story, and entirely different from them all. It has endless nights of talking and fun, great adventures, and tough moments that make us love each other more.”

Now that you’re in love with how adorable they are, let’s fast forward to their wedding day. We arrived at Brenna’s mom’s house in Hope Ranch where the girls were getting ready and the place was bustling. Style Me Kristi did such a FABULOUS job (she even got us ahead schedule for the rest of the day!) and the girls looked absolutely stunning. Ella & Louie dropped off the bouquets, which we adored. They matched the bridesmaid dresses perfectly!! Meanwhile, the guys got ready at Wayfarer. After they got dressed they prepared for the wedding by hitting up the swings and playing kickball while drinking beer.

The ceremony took place at Our Lady of Mount Carmel. We LOVE photographing weddings at Mount Carmel because the outside of the church is perfect for portraits and the inside is immaculate! Just wait until you see how well the inside photographs. We have photographed a number of catholic wedding ceremonies here, and this one was no exception, we loved it!!! It was such a special and intimate ceremony to be a part of, and we loved when the ring bearer and flower girl started to walk down the aisle but then they got got overwhelmed and stopped in their tracks. So Grandma came to the rescue and ran up the aisle to walk them down. Such a perfect way to break the ice!

After the ceremony, the guests headed to the reception at Brenna’s father’s house called the Rancho Tecolete. It is a historic ranch surrounded by 20 acres of Avocado trees. The estate had a fully restored blacksmith stop and horse drawn carriages inside the carriage stalls. It is a stunning estate, with rich history, and the perfect fit for Pete and Brenna’s reception aka fiesta!

As guests arrived at the reception venue, they were greeted with Folded Hills rose. What a perfect way to greet your guests! We did a wedding at Folded Hills a few years back, so this rose had an extra special place in our heart because we love Folded Hills so much! As guests entered the cocktail hour, they were greeted by a beautiful display of appetizers created by OmniCatering, and they also had Rosé Tequila. Yes, Rosé Tequila! We know that sounds crazy, but it’s a tequila from Cabo that is truly magical!

The wedding was full of beautiful details. One that stood out to us was their incredible escort card display. Each name was individually calligraphed and they were displayed on a wall and painted with blush ombre, and framed with florals. We also loved how Tyler Speier designed the tables for this wedding, they had a mix of long tables and round tables, covered in greenery and florals, clear chargers lined with gold, and a beautiful menu designed by Jessica Yee Calligraphy. Dinner was a delicious buffet line of steak and salmon by Omni Catering followed by heartwarming toasts. Then it was dancing time! They had a live, 13 piece band called We are Music Collective, and they were AWESOME! They started offf the night with classic old hits and then moved into Bruno Mars. Needless to say, the dance floor was packed All. Night. Long. Brenna and Pete even made sure they had flats available for all the female guests to slip into if their feet got tired of heels! What a fun gift for guests!

We LOVE Brenna and Pete and we are so excited for them!!! It was an honor to be a part of such an incredible day!!
