If we told you that Beth & Richie both went to Westmont College, you would probably assume they are college sweethearts, right? As you may already know, Westmont is very small, in fact there are only 1200 students, and it feels like you know everyone. So it would have made sense for Beth and Richie to meet either on their way to the DC, or in chapel, or passing on the way to class, but that is actually not how their relationship started. In fact, they didn’t even meet at Westmont! Their love story didn’t actually start until a full two years after graduating where they both happened to go to a Santa Barbara taproom called Lama Dog in the Funk Zone with their friends. They both thought the other person was super cute, and it was that night while hanging out with mutual friends that they actually started talking!

They describe their relationship as a wonderful adventure and it’s obvious to tell that they have both found the person of their dreams! Both Beth & Richie are the perfect combo of adventure-lovers and homebodies. Whether hiking the mountains above Santa Barbara or spending a night at home Netflix-and-chillin, the two just LOVE to be together. They are the best of friends and can’t help but be incredibly happy to be together.

On the day of the proposal, Richie took Beth’s phone for the day and was posting to his story at each of the different important places from our relationship while referencing the event that was going to take place later. That day, he took her to a few of her favorite spots: first the beach, then Sakana for sushi (our favorite sushi spot too), then back to the beach, and then to just “hangout” on the bluffs overlooking the ocean. Not a bad place to hangout, right? They walked up the dirt path to the top of the bluffs. Beth was completely oblivious to what was happening until she got to a spot on the path that had hundreds of rose petals scattered everywhere. Richie got done down on one knee, and Beth was giddy as she said “Yes!”

Afterwards they met up at a wine tasting room with all of their closest friends in Santa Barbara to celebrate the day! It was an AMAZING proposal and Richie absolutely killed it with his planning! Our favorite thing about Beth & Richie is how thoughtful they are, and we love how they make each other laugh. We had a wonderful time with them during their engagement session in the Montecito hills above Westmont, and we are counting down the days until their wedding at Sandpiper in July!
