BRICK Wedding: Aaron & Amanda

Filed in: Weddings

You’ll never believe how these two met! It is straight out of a fairytale, and the perfect foreshadowing of their life together! They boarded a plane from Texas to San Diego and were seated next to each other. You know that feeling when you sit down on a plane and have zero desire of talking to your neighbor? Well that is how they both felt, and neither one of them planned on talking to their neighbor the whole flight. But after a second of smalltalk everything changed, and as soon as they started talking it was as easy and comfortable as talking to their best friend. And they weren’t the only ones who felt this way! Mid-flight Aaron got up to use the bathroom, and the older German lady next to Amanda told her if she didn’t go for this guy she was going to set him up with her 18 year old granddaughter!  Oh my, what an eager grandma! When they landed Aaron asked if he could help her with her bag, not realizing she had three very large bags because she was in the process of moving. But being the true gentleman he is, he was happy to help and then they exchanged numbers and email addresses…and the rest is history!

We did Aaron and Amanda’s engagement session in Coronado last December in the pouring rain, and it was beautiful and romantic. Aaron is a pilot for the Navy, and we loved that he wore his flight suit for the engagement session and we were thrilled when we found out he was wearing his dress whites for the wedding day!

Because Aaron is a pilot and they met on a plane, airplanes are such an important part of their lives, and we love the way they used planes throughout the wedding day. Amanda wore her Tiffany & Co airplane necklace, and as we were taking bridesmaid photos by the bay planes were taking off right above us! Then during the reception they had a paper airplane installation that hung over the dane floor, and signs with “pilot” and “copilot” next to their chairs! We absolutely love when our couples plan a wedding that is a reflection of who they are as a couple, and Aaron and Amanda did that perfectly!  They got ready at a house nearby, and had a beautiful ceremony at The North Chapel at Liberty Station. Then they had an amazing sword arch as they exited the church, and it was filled with laughter and celebration! Guests made their way over to the reception at an incredible location called: BRICK, which is lined with bricks and the perfect space to make your own! We love the way they draped flowers over wood farm tables, and hung floral installations above the sweetheart table! But our favorite part of the day was the surprise Aaron had planned for Amanda at the reception! After the cake cutting, Aaron and one of his Navy buddies started speaking into the mic…”Goose, she’s lost that loving feeling” “She’s lo…no she hasn’t” “Goose, she’s lost it man,” and then six of his navy buddies put their sunglasses on and sang  “She’s lost that loving feeling!” It felt JUST like Top Gun, and was the best reenactment we’ve ever seen! And then to top it off, when the song was over, Aaron grabbed the mic and sang a beautiful song by himself to his wife! He is a romantic through and through, and we love the way they love each other! We had such a wonderful time photographing their wedding day, and we are so excited to share it with you!
